We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Protection Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Main Relay Testing Engineer will be responsible for testing, calibrating, and commissioning protection relays and associated power system equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation of electrical networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection relays such as distance, differential, overcurrent, earth fault, motor protection, transformer protection, generator protection, etc.
- Conduct relay configuration, parameter settings, logic configuration, and functional testing using relay software tools (e.g., Siemens DIGSI, ABB PCM600, Schneider Easergy Studio, GE Enervista).
- Carry out primary and secondary injection testing using test kits (Omicron, Megger, ISA, etc.).
- Adopt FINAL relay setting and carry out secondary injection
- Create SCD, ICD , CID file and integrate the relay with SCS system
- Sufficient knowledge to trouble shoot when experiencing an issue during integration protection relay with different SCS system
- Complete knowledge on the communication protocol system such as IEC 104 , 102, 61850 Etc
- Interpret protection diagrams, SLDs, wiring diagrams, and logic schemes.
- Troubleshoot relay malfunctions, wiring issues, and protection coordination discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, project specifications, and international standards (IEC, IEEE).
Education & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of power system protection principles and relay coordination.
- Electrical Engineering Degree with a minimum of 7- 10 years of experience in relay testing
- Approvals from major utilities such as DEWA , ADDC, SEC, KAHRAMAA for main relay testing
- Hands-on experience with leading relay brands: Siemens, ABB, SEL, Schneider, GE.
- Proficiency with relay testing equipment (Omicron CMC, Megger, etc.).
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and protection schemes.
