We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Head Sommelier to lead our wine program and elevate the guest dining experience. The ideal candidate combines deep wine expertise with exceptional hospitality, communication, and sales skills. Key Responsibilities•Provide professional beverage recommendations based on guest preferences.•Guide guests through wine, beer, and spirit selections in an approachable, friendly manner.•Assist bartenders and servers with pairing suggestions and product knowledge.•Handle guest concerns related to beverages with professionalism.•Curate and maintain a balanced wine list suitable for a pub/bar concept.•Support selection of craft beers, spirits, and seasonal cocktails.•Monitor stock levels and coordinate with purchasing for timely replenishment.•Ensure proper storage, rotation, and handling of all beverages.•Conduct regular training sessions for bar and floor staff on wine, beer, and spirits.•Educate the team on tasting notes, service standards, and pairing techniques.•Create quick?reference guides or cheat sheets for staff.•Oversee wine service including opening, decanting, and glassware standards.•Ensure all beverage service follows hygiene and safety regulations.•Maintain accurate inventory and assist with monthly stock counts.•Support bar operations during peak hours when needed.•Promote premium wines, signature cocktails, and upselling opportunities.•Develop beverage promotions, tasting events, and pairing nights.•Analyze sales trends and recommend adjustments to the beverage menu.
•Certification in wine studies (WSET, CMS, or equivalent) preferred.•Previous experience as a Sommelier or beverage specialist in a bar, pub, or restaurant.•Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, beer styles, and spirits.•Excellent communication and guest?interaction skills.•Ability to train and motivate staff.•Strong organizational and inventory?management abilities.
